Alan ‘Al’ Charron has had an intense and successful career in Rugby. His involvement began locally, playing for the Ottawa Irish from ‘86-‘96, leading them to seven leagues titles, two McCormick Cup (Ontario) titles and eight Ontario league titles. From ‘87-’96, he was a member of the Ontario Provincial Men’s Rugby team that won two Canadian championships. Charron appeared in 76 international caps (the most ever for a Canadian) with our National Men’s Rugby team between ‘90 and ‘03, was team captain and named Canadian player of the Year in ‘01 and ‘03. He was a member of the Rugby World Cup squads in ‘91, ‘95, ‘99 and ‘03, co-captained the ‘99 World Cup team and was captain in ‘03. He played professionally in the UK and France from ‘98 to ‘02.
