At age seven won Gatineau Zone senior women’s slalom, combine. At age 15, became youngest-ever winner in the half-century history of the Holmenkollen giant slalom in Norway. First Canadian to win in Olympic ski competition at Squaw Valley in ’60. Won slalom, alpine gold medals. Previous year beat world’s best in White Ribbon Tournament, St. Moritz and in Kandahar. Canadian Female Athlete of year 1959-60. Lou Marsh Trophy top Canadian athlete 1960.

Member of Order of Canada. She was inducted into Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame in 1960.
