Born in Windsor in 1931, Bob Ferguson has enjoyed long and varied involvement in sport. As a sports writer for the Ottawa Citizen, his columns, covering every aspect from local community and school events to the exploits of the Montreal Expos continued to be ‘must reads’ for 30 years. He was also a writer, broadcaster and analyst on radio and cable TV sports programs and contributor to national sport publications.  

He was a member of numerous sport writing and broadcasting associations and a Board member of several Halls of Fame, notably Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame. His interest in Canada’s sport history led to the writing of Who’s Who in Canada Sports. Ferguson was the first recipient of the Ernie Calcutt/Eddie MacCabe/Brian Smith Memorial Lifetime Achievement Award in 2005.
