Born July 6, 1960 in Gracefield, Quebec, Caroll-Ann Alie honed her boardsailing skills on the Ottawa River while a student at the University of Ottawa. Her talents led her to a wide variety of provincial, national and international honours, including three world Mistral windsurfer titles. She earned Pan-American Games gold and two silver medals and represented Canada in three Olympic Games. Ottawa ACT Athlete of the Year in 1985, Caroll-Ann also received Canadian Yachting Association Athlete of the Year Awards and is a member of both the Canadian Amateur and Canadian Olympic Sports Halls of Fame.
