Donald P. Booth (deceased) as a former hotel owner left an indelible imprint on the Canadian and International standardbred racing scene. Serving over six decades in various roles as owner, breeder, trainer and administrator, Donald Booth played a key role in the implementation of blood typing as a condition for Canadian horse registration.

He was the former Director of the Central Canada Exhibition Association, the Ontario Harness Horseman’s Association and Canadian Trotting Association, who also served on the Rideau Carleton Advisory Board and as Director and President of the Canadian Standardbred Horse Society, was instrumental in establishing the Canadian Classic Yearling Sale. Honoured as Harness Horsemen International’s Man of the Year (1981) and winner of the Canadian Standardbred Horse Society Achievement Award (1992), Donald Booth also trained and bred Canadian trotting mare of 1975, Gaelic Almahurst.
