Played junior hockey with 67’s accumulating 298 points in 194 games as a defenceman. Sixteen-year NHL career (14 Chicago; 2 San Jose) began in 1977-78. Played 1,189 NHL games, 907 points. James Norris Memorial Trophy, 1981-82. Team Canada member on Gold Medal winner, Canada Cup 1984. Most career goals, assists, points by Chicago defenceman. First captain of San Jose Sharks. Held numerous positions in NHLPA, serving as President 1992-93. Named Executive Vice President and General Manager of San Jose Sharks in 2003. Member of Chicago Sports Hall of Fame (1999).
