Francis Michael ‘King’ Clancy (deceased) joined the Ottawa Senators hockey team at age 18. Purchased by Toronto for then-unheard-of sum of $35,000 and two players. Played on two Stanley Cup teams with Ottawa, one with Toronto. Coached Montreal Maroons (1937) and the Leafs (1950 to 1953). Also refereed in NHL. Longtime assistant manager and vice-president of the Leafs.

 

  • Member of Hockey Hall of Fame.

 

  • He was inducted into Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame in 1975.
