John Joseph ‘Joe’ Poirier

Twelve season (1959-70 in CFL, all with Ottawa Rough Riders. Played in 168 regular-season games. All-Canadian all-star (1966) and Eastern Conference all-star five times. Four Grey Cup appearances, three championships (1960, 1968, and 1969). Outstanding Rookie in Eastern Division (1959). Holds Riders’ records for most interceptions in career (47) and moot interception yards in career (658). Led league in pass interceptions (9) in 1966. Nicknamed “The Fox.” Joe is currently employed with the Canadian Tourism Commission.
