Michel was born in Bouchette, Que. March 11 1959. He began fencing at the age of 13 and became a national status fencer by the age of 18.    Michel has represented Canada internationally on over 10 separate occasions, including: 4 times at the Pan-Am Games and 3 Olympic appearances. He won 7 National Junior titles, 3 National Senior titles, A silver at the 82 Commonwealth championships, gold at the 86 Commonwealth Games, team gold and individual silver at the 83 Pan-Am Games and has the best Canadian Olympic fencing showing, finishing 10th at the 84 Olympics.    Michel is still very active in the sport of fencing as a the Director of the Caron Training Centre, operator of the Gatineau Fencing Club and owner of a fencing equipment company.
