Born in Ottawa, On. October 6, 1927 Phil honed his hockey skills in the Sandy Hill area where he was raised.    He joined the pro ranks with Hershey in the AHL in 1948. Through 23 pro played years he amassed 1392 scheduled games, 505 goals, 916 assists, 112 playoff games and 1 Stanley Cup championship.    After retiring as a Vancouver Canuck Phil stayed on as a scout with the Canucks, a position that he didn’t keep long. Shortly there after Phil began performing double duty as the Coach and GM of the Canucks from 1973 –1977.
