Developed skills in Ottawa winning junior championship with St. Pat’s (1949). Moved to St. Michael’s Majors (OHA). Named to all-time team. Won Stanley Cups (1954 and 1955) with Detroit. Played 5 years in NHL, 6 in AHL, and 6 in WHL. Coached championship teams in WHA with Houston Aeros (1974 and 1975) and New England Whalers (1979). Won two AHL championships with Adirondack (1986 and 1989). Coached Philadelphia Flyers 1991-93.
