Dr. Desmond Thomas Burke (deceased) was one of Canada’s greatest rifle shooters’. Winner of King’s Prize at Bisley, 1924, at age 19. Tied for same trophy in 1929, lost in shoot-off. Continued to win numerous trophies in England against the best shots in the Commonwealth and in DCRA meets in Ottawa.

Member of Canadian Forces Sports Hall of Fame.

He was inducted into Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame in 1972.
