Twelve-year career in Canadian Football League, four with Ottawa Rough Riders (1975-1978). Led Ottawa (1976) and Winnipeg (1984) to Grey Cup wins, earning Outstanding Offensive Player honours in both games. Also with Saskatchewan, Hamilton, Winnipeg. Twice CFL All-Star, six-time EFC All-Star. Five-time EFC passing leader. All-American at Notre Dame (1974), including unbeaten season (1973). Turned to coaching after playing career. Member of Canadian Football Hall of Fame.
