Barbara Ann Scott-King (deceased) learned figure skating at the Ottawa Minto Club. Canadian senior women’s champion (1944-48), North American champions (1945-48). In 1948, she won European title, World title, and Olympic title. Was also World title holder in 1947 at age 18. Canada’s Athlete of the Year in 1945, 1947 and 1948. Turned pro with Hollywood Ice Review 1949-54. A keen equestrian, she has been training show horses for more than 25 years, amassing an impressive collection of blue ribbons.
- She is a member of the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
- She is a member of Canada’s Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
- She was made an Officer of the Order of Canada in 1991.
- She was inducted into Canada’s Sports Hall of Fame in 1955.
