Jack Alexander Barber (deceased) was a late bloomer in the world of speed skating, launching his career at 31. Athletic talent soon carried him to regional, provincial, and Canadian championships. From 1947 to 1965, was prime mover behind Eastern Ontario Speed Skating Association. Served as President of Ontario Association. Efforts on behalf of area youngsters influenced many lives. Member of Speed Skating Canada Hall of Fame (1968).
