John P. Donohue (deceased). Although basketball was a Canadian invention, it took this American’s coaching skills to put Canada among the world’s leaders on the court. Equipped with impressive high school and college credentials, which included 71 consecutive triumphs. Moulded a national team which placed fourth in the 1976 and 1984 Olympics. He won gold in the 1978 Commonwealth Games and 1983 World University Games.

  • He was inducted into Canada’s Sport Hall of Fame in 2004.
